ABOUT

Ian Waller

I have spent 25 years successfully building my own company, restoring, manufacturing and installing decorative plasterwork, becoming an enthusiast and connoisseur. Whilst comprehending the evolution of materials, appreciating the expansion and progression of periodic styles and mastering the methods used in producing decorative plasterwork.

My career highlights include reproducing Sir John Soane’s prototype ‘Tribune’ at Tyringham Hall, from the original drawings. Producing elliptical domes, barrel and cross vault ceilings with Corinthian capitals and columns decorated by ‘Palm Leaves’ replicating. John Vardy’s Palm Room at Spencer House. Duplicating works by John Nash, Robert Adam and Thomas Cubitt has opened the doors to some of the UK’s best country estates. Understanding how the great architects of their day have influenced the significance of decorative plasterwork.

I have advised on projects for luxury hotels, listed buildings, banks, halls and country houses. Building relationships and benefiting from repeat business has always been extremely important to me, sharing my understanding, experience and taking pride in playing my part in the appreciation and preservation of historic plasterwork.

The Ian Waller Design Studio are now producing a selection of furniture and objects for the home that are built to stand the test of time.
